Essay Competition 2025

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Annual SRT Essay Competition 2025!
This competition is open to medical students, resident doctors (non-radiology), and radiology residents; each of these three categories of grade will be marked separately with a winner and runner-up announced for each. Deadline is 15th October 2025.
Prizes are available to winners and runner-up entries. This will include a free annual conference ticket (winners only, not runner-up), certificate of achievement, and publication of essay on the SRT website.
All applicants can choose from one of two essay titles:
Sustainability in Radiology: How Can Imaging Services Go Green Without Compromising Care?
Global Radiology Inequality: What is the Role of High-Income Nations in Bridging the Gap?
Entry Rules & Terms:
Deadline 15th October 2025, 17:00 (UK time). The form will automatically stop accepting submissions after this time.
Maximum word count 1,500.
Word (.docx) files accepted.
No plagiarism or AI-generated content.
You must be a UK-based medical student, UK-based non-radiology resident doctor, or UK-based radiology resident.
The competition is open to non-SRT members.
Only one entry per applicant.

Essays will be assessed and marked by the SRT Committee. The SRT maintains full discretion to disqualify any entry deemed unsuitable and to change the prizes offered up to the announcement of the winning entries. The decision of the SRT of winning entries is final.
Prizes include a free SRT conference ticket for winners. Both winners and runner-ups will receive a certificate and have their essay published on the SRT website.
You agree and acknowledge that by submitting your essay, if chosen as a prize winner, it will be available to view on our website publically to all SRT members and non-SRT members.
