Joanna Fairhurst was appointed consultant paediatric radiologist at University Hospitals of Southampton in 1990. She has a specialist interest in musculoskeletal imaging, suspected non-accidental injury and education, and has held positions as Clinical Director of Radiology, Head of Training and Regional Educational Advisor. She was appointed Chairman of the Examining Board for the Royal College of Radiology in 2011, has authored over 60 publications and 4 book chapters, and was a regular reviewer for a number of radiology journals. She has been involved as an expert in over 1000 cases of suspected non-accidental injury, and has appeared regularly in Court as an Expert Witness. In 2019 she received the Exceptional Contribution Award from the Royal College of Radiologists, and in the same year was awarded the Jim Munro Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2020 she was invited to give the Couch Kerley Lecture at the RCR Annual Meeting and the Helen Carty Memorial Lecture at the BSPR annual scientific meeting.

Sobes Battison qualified as a Dentist from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London in 2003. After 2 years in general dental and community clinics, she spent a further 2 years as an oral and maxillofacial (OMFS) SHO at University Hospital Southampton (UHS). It was during this time that she was convinced to pursue OMFS as a career and went back to Barts and The London to study Medicine, qualifying in 2010. During her foundation training, Sobes developed an interest in Radiology and in 2012, joined the Southampton, Wessex Radiology training scheme. She developed subspecialty interests in cardiothoracic and head & neck radiology and completed a post CCT head and neck fellowship at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth in 2020. Sobes has been a Consultant Head & Neck Radiologist at UHS since January 2021 and the subspecialty lead. She is passionate about education, being actively involved in regular teaching and training at all levels and has created a dedicated core head and neck training programme for the Wessex radiology trainees. Outside of work, Sobes is a qualified yoga teacher and practises yoga and meditation regularly (which helps counteract the stress of the head and neck MDT!).

Dr Nania is an interventional and diagnostic neuroradiology currently working at University Hospital of Southampton. After completing his radiology and INR training in Edinburgh, worked as a fellow in Nurenberg, Germany, and as a consultant in Edinburgh. His subspecialty interest lies in diagnosis and treatment of neurovascular diseases such as aneurysm, ischaemic stroke and AV shunts.

Dr Jake Cowen is an ST4 radiology resident in the Wessex deanery subspecialising in Head & Neck and Neuroradiology. Since 2024 he has been serving as co-chair of the Radiology Academic Network for Trainees (RADIANT). He has published several papers during his radiology training and won the AJNR Global Neuroradiology Award in 2025. He was selected as an Yves Menu Reviewer Fellow with European Radiology in 2024-2025.

James Cairns is an ST4 Clinical Radiology Registrar on the Leeds & West Yorkshire Radiology Training scheme and a Cancer Research UK funded Leeds-Manchester PhD Fellow. His work focuses on quantitative imaging and clinical AI implementation, with a PhD on imaging-derived frailty markers to personalise anal cancer treatment within the PLATO trial.

Appointed as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in Clinical Radiology in September 2024, Simran has focused his research on vascular and interventional oncology, radiomics, and the safe integration of artificial intelligence into imaging practice. Early outputs include publications in British Journal of Radiology and Algorithms, covering novel oncological interventions and radiomics-based modelling of abdominal aortic aneurysm growth. He has presented research nationally and internationally, including at the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2025), where he led work on federated AI monitoring in chest radiography. His ongoing IO projects include radiomic segmentation in renal cell carcinoma, evaluation of novel ureteric stents, and a variety of service evaluation projects relating to departmental consent. Alongside his research, Simran serves as a UNITE Committee member and organiser of the BSIR Interventional Radiology Research Day 2025 and as a member of the Leeds Cancer Research Centre (LCRC) Training Subcommittee acting as the Interventional Oncology representative. His long-term aim is to secure fellowship funding to undertake a PhD and progress towards a career as chief investigator in vascular and interventional oncology clinical trials.

Dr Ngu is a Consultant Radiologist working in East Yorkshire within the Humber Health Partnership, with specialist interests in radionuclide and cross-sectional imaging. She is the current President at the British Society of Emergency Radiology (BSER) in addition to being the Specialist Interest Group (SIG) Lead for Trauma Imaging at the Royal College of Radiologists. She leads the Nuclear Medicine/PET rotation for resident doctors and coordinates the Nuclear Medicine/PET subspeciality teaching month within the local radiology training programme. She also contributes to the FRCR 2A examination and provides regular viva teaching for the FRCR 2B examination. She has fond memories of the SRT having served as the Co-President (2022-2023) and Vice-President (2021-2022) during her training.

Dr Oliver trained at the Norwich Radiology Academy and in the Bristol deanery. She have been a consultant at RUH since 2019, and lead for Emergency and Critical Care Imaging. She also subspecialises in Gynae-Radiology. She is the current secretary of the British Society of Emergency Medicine and has served in this role since 2023.

Dr Stephen Harden is a consultant in cardiothoracic radiology at University Hospital Southampton, UK, having been appointed in 2005. His consultant clinical radiology practice includes cardiac and thoracic cross-sectional imaging and PET/CT. Stephen has been President of the Royal College of Radiologists since September 2025. As RCR President, he leads the organisation which represents Clinical Radiologists and Clinical Oncologists in all four nations of the United Kingdom. The RCR’s role is to advocate for and speak on behalf of its specialties to government and stakeholders, to provide and supervise education and postgraduate exams and to set professional standards of practice. ORRRR Dr Stephen Harden is a consultant in cardiothoracic radiology at University Hospital Southampton, UK, and is the President of the Royal College of Radiologists. As RCR President, he leads the organisation which represents Clinical Radiologists and Clinical Oncologists in all four nations of the United Kingdom. The RCR’s role is to advocate for and speak on behalf of the professions to government and stakeholders, to provide and supervise education and postgraduate exams and to set professional standards. Much of the work of the RCR involves raising the profile and increasing the visibility diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and cancer care. Previously, Stephen was the RCR Clinical Radiology Vice-President and the RCR Medical Director for Education and Training in Clinical Radiology. He has chaired the RCR Clinical Radiology Professional Learning and Development sub-committee and been an FRCR examiner, and is the former President of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging.

Dr Natasha Davendralingam is a Consultant Radiologist, forensic imaging specialist and co-founder/CEO of Anubix, a multi-award-winning organisation modernising post-mortem imaging and coronial pathways across the UK, with a mission grounded in one belief: death care is health care. She holds a Master’s with distinction in Post-Mortem Imaging in Natural and Forensic Death Investigation (University of Leicester) and has published widely across adult and paediatric post-mortem imaging, including co-authoring international post-mortem imaging guidelines. Natasha is the UK representative for the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging, a member of the British Association of Forensic Medicine (BAFM), and supports major casework through the National Crime Agency (NCA) Major Crime Unit FMAT team - reflecting her commitment to the intersection of imaging, justice and public protection. An NHS Clinical Entrepreneur, she also holds a certificate in coronial law and is a certified expert witness in criminal law and procedure, bringing medico-legal clarity to some of the most sensitive questions we face: why someone died, and how we communicate that truth responsibly. Her work has been recognised nationally, including a 40 Under 40 (Health) award, and she is regularly invited to speak on innovation, clinical entrepreneurship, and women’s leadership in healthcare. Through her teaching and service development, Natasha aims to make post-mortem imaging safer, more consistent, and more human - for clinicians, coroners, and the families living through the worst time of their lives.

Dr Thomas completed radiology training in Wessex and have been a Consultant Radiologist at Royal Bournemouth Hospital (University Hospitals Dorset) for the past 13 years. Her subspecialty interest is cardiothoracic imaging and she is on the Executive Committee for the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (BSCI/BSCCT) where she co-chairs the cardiac CT accreditation committee. She have been involved in training throughout her consultant career and was College tutor for Royal Bournemouth Hospital for 5 years before becoming a Training Programme Director for the Wessex School of Radiology a year ago. She is also a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University and teaches radiographers as part of a Medical Imaging and Management MSc.

Hooria Cheema is a consultant abdominal radiologist at Southampton General Hospital with a special interest in luminal, hepatobiliary and pelvic exenteration imaging. She completed her radiology training from the Wessex scheme.

Dr Malalasekera attended medical school in University College London where he was accepted onto the MBPhD program graduating in 2017 with both MBBS and a PhD in Neuroscience. He joined the Wessex Foundation School completing his foundation training at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. In 2019 he was accepted into the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme subspecialising in Interventional Neuroradiology. Following CCT in 2025 he has taken up a position as a Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist at Southampton General Hospital.

Dr David Gay trained in the south west becoming a consultant in 2008. He specialises in Msk and forensic imaging. He his the lead for military imaging and works in Torbay Hospital.
