Dr Katharine Halliday
President - The Royal College of Radiologists
Dr Katharine Halliday completed her radiology training in London, Perth, Australia, Sheffield and Nottingham. She was appointed to her current role as a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Nottingham University Hospital in 1998 and has a special interest in the imaging of suspected physical abuse, providing opinions on cases from across the UK. She chaired the working group for the updated guidance for imaging in cases of suspected physical abuse in children (2018).

Dr Halliday is current President of The Royal College of Radiologists (2022-2025) so heads up the organisation which represents Clinical Radiologists and Clinical Oncologists. RCR’s role is to speak on behalf of the professions to government and fundholders, to provide and supervise education and exams and to set professional standards.
She also chaired the British Society of Paediatric Radiology (2010-16) and was National Lead for Radiology Getting-It-Right- First-Time (GIRFT) (2017-22), during which she visited 143 UK radiology departments.
Dr Ram Vaidhyanath
Consultant Head & Neck Radiologist
Dr Vaidhyanath is passionate about Radiology education & is the founder of East Midlands FRCR 2B Revision Course (2005) & the Leicester Anatomy Course (2010). He was the Radiology Lead at Leicester Medical School (2013-2018). He was awarded the RCR-Dr PK Ganguli Visiting Professorship in 2020 & bestowed the First Special Contribution Award by the British Society of Head & Neck Imaging in 2021. He is the current Vice President & President Elect of BSHNI.
Dr James Shambrook
Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist
Dr James Shambrook BM MRCP FRCR was appointed as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist in 2009 at University Hospital Southampton. His interests include lung cancer imaging and screening, cardiac CT and MRI for both adults and children. He was the immediate past president of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging/ British Society of Cardiovascular CT and a current RCR / BSCI travelling professor.
Dr Stephen Harden
Consultant Radiologist & RCR VICE president
Dr Harden specialises in cardiac and thoracic cross-sectional imaging and PET/CT. He trained in Clinical Radiology in Wessex and undertook further training in Germany and USA. Dr. Harden is RCR Vice-President for Clinical Radiology and was the RCR Medical Director for Education and Training in Clinical Radiology from 2019-2022. Previous roles include being President of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging and the first RCR travelling cardiac imaging Professor.
Dr Alexandra Dudek
Consultant Radiologist
Dr Dudek is a consultant radiologist with sub-specialty training in radionuclide radiology. She trained at UCLH where she has been a consultant for 1.5 years. Alongside her clinical work, she enjoys teaching trainees both in respect to radionuclide imaging, as well as general FRCR 2b material.
Dr Faye Cuthbert
Consultant Urogenital Radiologist
Dr Cuthbert is a consultant urogenital radiologist based at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, and is the current President of the British Society of Urogenital Radiology. As part of her role at UHS Faye is the radiological lead for ultrasound imaging in the trust, she is also a clinical lecturer at Brighton and Sussex medical school. Her main clinical interest is gynaecological and obstetric imaging. As a trainee radiologist, Faye served the SRT as committee secretary 2012-2014.
Dr Ashley Shaw
Medical Director & Consultant Radiologist
Dr Shaw qualified in medicine at the University of Sheffield and gained MRCP before training in Radiology at King's College Hospital. He was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist with interest in Cancer and Transplantation in 2004. He took on a succession of leadership roles before becoming MD in 2017. He has been Lead Editor of iRefer from 2021-2023 and is Deputy Editor of Clinical Radiology. Ashley has published more than 70 articles, along with 8 book chapters and 3 books.
Dr Ram Senasi
Consultant Paediatric Radiologist/ Clinical lead for Fujifilm Healthcare UK LTD
Dr Senasi is a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Hull University Teaching Hospital. Beyond the NHS, Dr Senasi has founded three companies: Trustr.ai, Sovereign Talents Ltd, and Clinical Strategies. As well as being the Clinical Lead for Fujifilm Healthcare UK, he also co-chairs the Outreach Committee for the World Federation on Pediatric Imaging (WFPI) and Founding Member of the World Federation of Emergency Radiology (WFER), where he played a key role in establishing the COVID Task Force.
Dr David Yu
Consultant MSK Radiologist
Dr Yu qualified in 2004 at St Barts and The Royal London School of Medicine. He completed basic surgical training at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, London. He acquired membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr Yu completed radiology specialist training at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. He pursued an MSK fellowship at Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals, Avon Orthopaedic centre, North Bristol.
Prof Malcolm Johnston
Chair of Radiology and Medical Education
Professor Johnston is a professor of Radiology and Medical education at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) leading all aspects of radiology and imaging anatomy education in the undergraduate course.
He trained at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine and at University College London.
During higher training he undertook a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Professor Johnston is a consultant interventional radiologist at University Hospitals Sussex, where he has worked at both Brighton and Worthing hospitals since 2005. He specialises in Vascular, HPB and Uro-gynae procedures and leads the Interventional Radiology service at Worthing and Chichester hospitals. He sits on the council of the British Society of Interventional Radiology.

Professor Johnston is chair of both the Interventional Radiology and Undergraduate Radiology committees at the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and also sits on the Specialty Training Board.
Dr Sami Khan
Consultant Radiologist
Dr Sami Khan, consultant radiologist at Basildon University Hospital, is an internationally renowned medical educationalist. He trained in Pakistan and subsequently has worked in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and since 2006 in the UK. During his 32 years of service, he has shown immense passion for teaching by creating many innovative teaching resources. The most eminent of these initiatives is DKT (Dr Khan’s Teaching), enabling him and his volunteer team to deliver high quality radiology teaching worldwide, free of any cost. Currently DKT has 11041 members from 115 countries and has delivered 689 hours of teaching to 97928 attendees. Dr Khan has received many accolades for his teaching, including the RCR JRF’s Trainer of the Year award in 2012, a special RCR award for exceptional commitment to training during the pandemic in 2020 and the prestigious Couch Kerley lecture at RCR Global Congress 2022.
Dr Rahil Kassamali
Consultant Interventional Radiologist
Dr Kassamali is a consultant interventional radiologist and research lead at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, and the medical appraisal lead for Everlight Radiology and senior lecturer and Radiology lead for Aston medical school. He trained in West Midlands and completed an interventional Radiology Fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. He has specialist interests in venous disease and interventional oncology. Dr Kassamali has published in excess of 30 peer review articles and is regularly invited to speak at international congresses.
